Before Noon: The Majesty of St. Mary's Basilica and the Great Armoury
Leaving Pikawa Bistro, you're right in the heart of historic events. Just look up to see the incredible structure of the Co-Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, commonly known as St. Mary's Basilica. It's the largest brick church in Europe!
It's definitely worth entering its austere, breathtaking interior to see the famous Astronomical Clock from the 15th century. If you're in good shape, be sure to climb the viewing tower. Exactly 409 steps await you, but the view from the platform at over 80 meters high makes up for every drop of sweat. From there you'll see the entire panorama of Gdańsk, the Bay of Gdańsk, and on a clear day even the Hel Peninsula.
Heading in the other direction along Piwna Street, you'll reach the Great Armoury (Arsenal). This is the finest example of Gdańsk Renaissance, with a facade full of gilded details, statues, and exploding grenades carved in stone. It's a perfect spot for a souvenir photo.

Just one block from Piwna is a street that many consider the most beautiful in all of Europe – Mariacka Street. This is where time literally stands still. It's famous for its characteristic porches (decorative terraces in front of townhouse entrances), gargoyles shaped like dragons or sea monsters, and dozens of small, charming galleries offering amber jewelry.
A stroll down Mariacka is a must on your itinerary. Even if you're not planning to shop, it's worth entering a few jewelry workshops to see how artists combine "Baltic Gold" with silver in modern and classic forms. This street has an incredibly romantic, slightly mysterious atmosphere that perfectly captures the soul of old Gdańsk.
Afternoon: Meeting Neptune and a Walk Along the Motława
From Mariacka, it's just a stone's throw through St. Mary's Gate to Long Waterfront, the famous promenade stretching along the Motława River. Walking along the shore, you'll pass the monumental Crane (the oldest preserved port crane in Europe) and be able to admire the granaries on Ołowianka Island.
Returning toward the center, enter Long Market through the Green Gate. This is where you'll find the postcard symbol of Gdańsk – the Neptune Fountain. The king of the seas proudly gazes at tourists with his trident in hand, with the magnificent Artus Court and Main Town Hall behind him.
